Adults Want Coloring Books!

Read “5 Reasons You Should Buy An Adult Coloring Book

Strange to post an article from a favorite natural health company, but how could I resist when it is so apropos our TIME LOVE & LICORICE: A Healing Coloring Storybook.

The article begins:
“You may fondly remember coloring books from your childhood, or perhaps you have children or grandchildren who enjoy coloring. But this activity doesn’t have to be locked away by nostalgia — more and more adults are re-discovering coloring as a form of active meditation…Read More

Healing Coloring Book for Adults & Children

David H.Rosen, psychoanalyst and author of the long-lauded Transforming Depression: Healing the Soul through Creativity and The Tao of Elvis has, along with artist Diane Katz, created Time, Love and Licorice:
A Healing Coloring Storybook

This book takes healing coloring books to another level, creating a transpersonal dream space
in which to let go and heal childhood wounds.

If you know anyone, adult, child or that is dealing with Post- Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), please introduce this book to them.

If you know any therapists or healers trying to help people recover from PTSD,
this book is a tool that can help them in their work.

Dr Rosen says of his experience writing Time, Love and Licorice:
“I reentered my child self at a time when the creative and loving relationship was damaged by my father’s war experiences. I wrote the story in a self-healing space, and the book now acts as a safe space in which children and families can come to terms with their own disruptions caused by PTSD. Sixty years after the events occurred, book in hand I cry again. The creative self-healing continues.”

Get the backstory on Time, Love and Licorice in Dr Rosen’s sensational, cinematic, vision-quest memoir,
also designed by Rosenberry Books and published in paperback by Wipf & Stock – Lost in the Long White Cloud: Finding my Way Home.

Currently on sale — a healing gift of TIME LOVE & LICORICE for under $10!

Deep, Old & Creative

This is turning out to be an extraordinarily creative year. The creativity runs deep and far into the past, while being less apparent (thus far…) on the surface.

I, myself, am involved in three large illustration projects. Two of these project were begun more than thirty years ago!

The Whistle Prayer, based on a traditional story about the spiritual master The Baal Shem Tov, has stood the test of time and improved with age! It is with this book, that Philip and I began our marriage and our creative work together. Having a family, homeschooling and the many creative projects of Rosenberry Books have delayed The Whistle Prayer’s completion. But we are nothing if not steadfast, and we look forward to sharing The Whistle Prayer’s elaborate drawings and inspiring story with you all!

Very soon, I will have the pleasure of announcing the availability of Time, Love and Licorice: a healing coloring storybook by David H.Rosen, MD, author of The Tao of Elvis. This story has ripened with age and contains the fruits of Dr Rosen’s creative and dream-wise insight. Time, Love and Licorice was created to be a safe space in which children and families can face, process and try to heal from the disruptions caused by Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

More to come!

Appletta still Inspires 10 year old to write!

“My daughter is ten and still believes in Appletta and writes letters
to Pixie Bluebell, whom she believes to be Appletta’s best friend.

It amazes me that even in 5th grade (middle school!) she is adamant that fairies and magic are very, very real.

Thank you for giving me a way to share that with her with such beautiful letters that are easy to pull out
of a closet when that tooth gets lost just before bedtime.”

Miraculous: What a Book Can Do

He’s read the book 201 times. His therapist recommended it…

Starting at a time of depression and seeing him through life’s “slings and arrows” every since, The Tao of Elvis
turns out to be a life-changer.

That’s what the fellow told me on the phone this morning, and it has transformed my day.

Now, this fellow wanted a Deluxe Edition, with bigger type for his older eyes. Besides, the ragged, old paperback was destroyed during a move. This man wasn’t going to live without a copy.

This story is a birthday present for David H. Rosen, the author of The Tao of Elvis. Happy Birthday David!

Dr Rosen felt called to try to understand the simultaneously destructive and healing spirit of Elvis. As a Jungian psychoanalyst, Dr Rosen also understood that the story of Elvis is, in a sense, a collective dream: a dream we understand helps us to understand ourselves.

Learn more about Dr Rosen by reading his new memoir, Lost in the Long White Cloud: Finding my Way Home (a Rosenberry Books/Wipf & Stock paperback edition)

Dr Rosen = Dr Nada = Wild!

Blatant and subtle at the same time, don’t miss “Dr Nada at Tiny Tavern, part II”

David H.Rosen, author of the long-lauded The Tao of Elvis, continues his antics
as Dr Nada on stage at The Tiny Tavern.

He first went live and (as Dr Nada says) “bacterial” in “Dr Nada Live at Tiny Tavern.”

Get to know the witty, warm (and sometimes wild!) man behind Dr Nada in his new memoir
Lost in the Long White Cloud: Finding my Way Home
(a Rosenberry Books/Wipf & Stock paperback edition)

The Vision Quest of a Healer

Lost in the Long White Cloud is both creation story and vision quest of a healer.

Prolific author, David H. Rosen, was the child of creative parents. Free to explore, the sometimes
unattended toddler turned into a smart “good boy” with a “bad boy’s” energy for funny, sad and scary escapades.

The future author of The Tao of Elvis so successfully impersonated Elvis in junior high, that his gyrations
led to “girls, girls, girls” — and even a marriage proposal from one enamored adolescent’s parents!

Rosen’s story takes us all over the map. In Greece, David lays awake under the stars with lovely Lolly
and decides to become a fisherman.

He pays a Parisian prostitute just to listen to her story, which will empower the future Jungian psychiatrist
to help a call girl transform herself into a therapist for sexually-abused children.

In Denmark, Rosen discovers that the well-provided-for citizens were strangely prone to suicide.
Later, Dr Rosen would coin the term “egocide” and publish the magnum opus, Transforming Depression.

US propaganda drives David to experience Russia for himself. The ensuing trip is an international
“Twist and Shout” dance party in the train aisles!

Lost in the Long White Cloud is a memoir turned cinematic adventure story by the
astonishingly honest, good-hearted and erudite David H. Rosen, MD.

Designed by Rosenberry Books, this volume joins The Tao of Elvis as the second Rosenberry books
edition to be published by Wipf & Stock as a paperback.

Last Bite Review: “Just touching this book will make you a better person…”

“The images in the book are the best I have seen in any book on haiku or calligraphy ever.
The attention to the reproduction of their fine art work makes you reach out and touch it
to see if it is an ‘original’…”

Last Bite truly qualifies as a ‘one of a kind’ for your bookshelf. It is a true creation by Rosenberry Books.
Each copy is built for you and hand made. The type is clear and wonderfully placed on each page.

Just touching this book will make you a better person, or so it seems!

This entire effort began as an exposition the poet and two artists did for the Inter-Section Gallery
in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. We are blessed that they chose to allow their entire
exhibit to be placed into this volume.

First, there is the haiku of Robert Moyer. A long time haiku poet, his technique is well honed,
and his haiku are enough to bring the moment portrayed to the front of your cerebellum.
He is that good!…

The next thing you will notice is that each poem has an image, and some have two, by the two artists
who have contributed to this work. This is the hard part of this review. How do I tell you that
Guntram Porps and Mona Wu have given Bob’s haiku a run for the money!

The images in the book are the best I have seen in any book on haiku or calligraphy ever.
The attention to the reproduction of their fine art work makes you reach out and touch it
to see if it is an ‘original’. It isn’t, but it could be, they are that faithful to the work of the artist.

The poems are reproduced in ink and brush on the images by Robert and the artists themselves
in a way that makes this volume truly unique. For some ‘hints’, and that is all a computer screen
can do, go to Rosenberry Books and you will see for yourself,

— but when you actually see the work in the finished book you will be further astounded. It is truly something you have to experience.

Again, I am stuck with words, and they are failing, but this is a one of a kind book. I will treasure this volume, and take care of it. It won’t be on my bookshelf, it will be on my desk.

Anyone who wants to see some of the best haiku, presented with images that would make Buson’s chest swell with pride, should own this book. I am still stunned by the simple beauty of this work.

Thanks to all, and for Rosenberry Books for bringing this to us. This one is a keeper.
